OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Ofrälse, beer is all about what the people want to drink. We test brew extensively, both in Malmö and at our converted stable in famous Hallandsåsen – the largest wilderness in Southernmost Sweden. In Malmö, our experiments go straight from the fermentation vessel to the tap system upstairs. Here, we get direct feedback from our expert panel – the everyday beer drinkers. The best recipes are the ones that make people come back for more, and those are the beers that make it to the shelves.

A TASTE OF SWEDEN

Every beer we brew contains a majority of Swedish malt, and at least 10% Swedish hops. For us, brewing isn’t just about making great beer—it’s about making beer that belongs here. We source our ingredients locally whenever possible — whether it’s malt from the fields of Skåne, hops from an urban farm in Malmö, and apples from our own family land. Using local ingredients isn’t just about freshness; it’s a way to support independent Swedish growers and keep the countryside vibrant. It also means a smaller environmental footprint and a deeper connection to the flavors of our region.

ROOTED IN TRADITION, DRIVEN BY CREATIVITY

We are always rooted in tradition, but not on the expense of creating products which our community enjoys. Classic brewing techniques lay the foundation, but innovation is what pushes us forward. Good brewing is about knowing the rules—but also knowing when to break them. We experiment with ingredients, fermentation methods, and processes, but never just for the sake of being different. Every change we make has a purpose: to create something more balanced, more flavorful, or just more fun to drink. Some of our best beers started as wild ideas, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Tradition and creativity aren’t opposites — they’re what make great beer possible.

CRAFTED SMALL, BREWED BIG

After we have perfected our beers on a small scale, and having the recipes approved by our customers in the Malmö tap room, it’s time to scale up. To be able to produce tens of thousands of liters of beer and maintain the same quality as when we do it small scale requires is no easy feat. We collaborate with Brygghuset Finn, and produce all our big batches at our shared state-of-the-art brewery in Landskrona. Scaling up means we can make our beers more accessible, reaching more shelves and more taps without ever sacrificing the essence of Ofrälse. Every beer we brew, whether in a small test batch or a large-scale production run, stays true to our philosophy. Because no matter where it’s brewed, an Ofrälse beer always tastes like an Ofrälse beer.
