ABOUT US

WE ARE Ofrälse
Founded by three beer enthusiasts — Hampus, Adam, and Simon — Ofrälse’s journey began at Lund University in a communal student kitchen in a building called Parentesen.
As students, we loved drinking beer, and we quickly realised it was much cheaper to make our own beer than to buy it from others. The natural solution was therefore to get one 30 liter kettle, some malt and hops, a couple of plastic jugs to ferment in, and off we went.
Our first attemps in the corridor kitchen led to what some would call “unique flavors”. Others would just call it undrinkable sugary water that kind of feels like it could be a beer (did we just invent seltzer?). Nevertheless we improved over time, and started to get quite a bit of praise from our fellow students. We don’t think it was only because we supplied them with free beer.
We spent our first two years at Irishman Diarmuid Reidy’s brewery, Uncharted Brewing Company, where we got inspired and fueled our passion for beer. Whether the praise we received back then was genuine or not, it gave us the spark we needed to keep going. Supplying the students of Lund with beer was a great start, but we felt it wasn’t enough. We wanted everyone to have a taste!
As cash-strapped students (and men not of noble birth), opening our own brewery wasn’t exactly an option. So, we started looking for alternative ways to make it happen. That’s when we realized we weren’t the only students in Lund dreaming of starting a brewery. Three brewers, Petter, Joacim, and Simon, had also started their journey brewing beer in Lund and were already a few years ahead of us. They had even managed to open their own incredible brewery in Landskrona, called Brygghuset Finn. If you don’t know them already, we highly recommend checking them out.
After a couple of discussions over a few cold ones, we all agreed: Ofrälse Brygghus would move into the facilities at Brygghuset Finn so we could share the costs of running a brewery.
Since then, Ofrälse has made its mark on the Swedish beer scene, and we have supplied common men and women around the country with many liters of beer. We dare promise it tastes better than our first attempts in the corridor kitchen, but we’ll let you be the judge.
Cheers to the common people, and long live beer!
